Via a paved road that winds up through the vineyards at an elevation of only 300m, Ribes Commune consists of around 20 enchanting hamlets dotted amongst the vineyards of this award winning area set amidst the Parc Naturel Règional des Monts d‘Ardèche. With its Mediterranean climate spring arrives early, the summer is long and the autumn months divine. There is a large covered sun terrace for alfresco dining. Just perfect for family and friends to relax and unwind with a bottle of wine. Temperatures remains warm well into the night. The well-established garden offers an endless choice of spots to sit in the sun or cool off in the shade.
La Clède has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme and is tastefully modernised whilst making use of the natural features and materials. The comprehensively and newly equipped kitchen is complete with dishwasher and a large fridge freezer to help to make self-catering as easy as possible. All bedrooms are en-suite with new beds and bedding to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Wifi is available and there is plenty of private parking for 2/3 vehicles.
When in France the English owners, Julie & Mike, occupy an adjoining 400 year old property. If they are around they are always discreet but always on hand to help with anything to make your holiday special, perhaps even the odd local speciality meal. The town of Joyeuse with its medieval quarter is just a short drive away. It has all the facilities you require from bakers, supermarkets, independent shops with local produce, banks, a well renowned and the largest local market in the area. There are several good bars and restaurants that are highly recommended.
The views, landscapes and beauty make The Ardeche an ideal holiday destination. The region is renowned for its friendly welcome with warmth towards visitors to this beautiful region. You could try your hand at canoeing, horse riding, cycling while the more relaxed simply enjoy discovering small villages, towns and local markets. The world famous Ardeche River Gorges are a must see. You can relax on the river banks and swim in the clear waters. The local area is ideal for cycling with a varied landscape from quiet lanes to mountain climbs. Other noteable landmarks to discover include the Ray-Pic Waterfall, Paiolive Wood, The Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc, Chauvet Caves and the various vineyards of the Ardeche.
